With offices in Norwich and London, LSI Architects is an award-winning architectural practice recognised for its innovative, human-centred designs and progressive company culture.
Led by CEO Ben Goode, the practice employs around 70 people and is widely respected for embedding wellbeing, inclusivity and professional development into every aspect of its operations.
LSI’s philosophy is clear: a healthy, supported and connected team is the foundation for creativity, collaboration and client success.
While many companies accelerated their wellbeing efforts in response to the pandemic, LSI Architects’ journey began much earlier.
In 2016, following a period of personal and collective reflection on mental health, the leadership team recognised a need to build a more open, supportive and mentally healthy workplace. This became a catalyst for lasting change.
“For some of us at LSI, 2016 was a year that brought very personal challenges with mental health. Reflecting on these events was a ‘call to action’ that we could do more to support our team.”
— Ben Goode, CEO, LSI Architects
To ensure their wellbeing approach was evidence-led and sustainable, LSI partnered with Mind, participating in the Workplace Wellbeing Index during its inaugural year in 2016/17.
The collaboration provided insights into team sentiment and professional recommendations, shaping the company’s long-term wellbeing framework.
Since then, LSI has taken part in the Index every year, ensuring continuous improvement and transparency in its mental health and wellbeing strategy.
The practice also engaged MAD-HR for wellbeing and leadership sessions to support managers and strengthen awareness, compassion and confidence across the team.
LSI’s wellbeing strategy focuses on education, empowerment, and connection, underpinned by a commitment to “develop knowledge, not dictate behaviour.”
Key initiatives include:
Feedback from staff highlights the tangible impact:
Wellbeing at LSI is not a programme, it’s a core part of identity and culture.
By prioritising openness, education and compassion, LSI Architects has created an environment where employees feel safe, connected, and empowered to thrive.
This focus has also strengthened recruitment and retention, with wellbeing now cited as one of the key reasons people choose to join and stay at LSI.
“Our work on wellbeing is ongoing; it’s just part of who we are.”
Ben Goode, CEO
“Do it now — there is no better time. There’s a compelling business case for wellbeing in terms of culture, productivity and retention.
Participate in the Mind Workplace Wellbeing Index, create opportunities for connection, and start by educating people about mental health.”
