ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance. You may know this as CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility. Whatever you call it, it’s about changing things for the better – and during these turbulent times, when people on our doorstep are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, people around the world are fleeing their homes, and the world itself is experiencing a climate crisis, none of us can afford to just stand by and watch it all happen while there are things that we can do to help.

At MAD-HR Ltd, we are committed to conducting our business in a socially responsible and sustainable manner. As an outsourced supplier of HR services, we understand the importance of incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into our operations and decision-making processes.

Environmental Responsibility:

We recognise the impact of our operations on the environment and are committed to minimising our environmental footprint. We strive to reduce waste and conserve resources through the adoption of sustainable practices. We also work with our clients to promote responsible environmental practices in their workplaces.

Here’s what we’re doing to help the environment:
We know that it is not enough for you to fulfil your own sustainability commitments – you need to know that you are working with sustainable suppliers too. As a consultancy with the ability to work flexibly and remotely, our impact is already minimal, but we know that every little thing we can do to make a difference counts. So, in addition to removing unnecessary travel through home working and video conferencing to minimise our carbon impact, we recycle everything we possibly can – non-recyclable plastics are turned into eco-bricks for our local primary school children, and even shredded paper is used as bedding for chickens!

Social Responsibility:

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of social responsibility. We respect human rights, diversity, and inclusion, and strive to promote equal opportunities for all. We are committed to creating a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and clients. We also actively engage with our communities through various philanthropic initiatives.

Here’s what we’re doing to fulfil our social responsibilities:
Every day we are helping our clients create better pay, benefits and working conditions for their staff at all levels – including those on the frontline who often perform the most vital roles in our society yet are paid the least and are hit the hardest by the cost-of-living crisis. We are also at the forefront of boosting the local economy of East Anglia, from affiliating with other local suppliers to partnering with local enterprising action groups, including the Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Directors, through which we champion local charities and causes.

Our Directors, Carole and Charlotte, serve as trustees to Suffolk Family Carers and ActivLives. And when it comes to one-off fundraising, we have literally walked over hot coals (firewalking) to support fabulous local charities such as Suffolk Mind and St Elizabeth Hospice.

We use our skills to benefit others wherever possible, for example, our voluntary HR work with Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, helping young people into employment and securing respite for young carers. And we are members of Suffolk ProHelp and Norfolk Prohelp who provide voluntary professional business support to pioneering community groups.

Governance:

We believe in conducting our business with the highest standards of ethical and transparent governance. We have established policies and procedures that promote integrity, accountability, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. We also work with our clients to ensure their compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

At MAD-HR, we recognise that ESG factors are critical to our long-term success and that of our clients. We are committed to continuous improvement and strive to integrate ESG considerations into our decision-making processes. We believe that by upholding these principles, we can create a positive impact on society and the environment.

Here’s how we guarantee governance:
Our reputation is built on us being the experts when it comes to Governance. We ensure that our clients are fully compliant and ready for any changes to the law, and we lead by example, always staying one step ahead in our sector, going above and beyond best practices. We do this, not as a box-ticking exercise but because we believe in it. We will only work with and recommend ethical employers who understand and adhere to their legal and moral responsibilities.

Whether you call it ESG or CSR, every business has a duty not just to its clients but to the communities they serve. Individually we can make the small changes that add up to a big difference and together, we can make history.
